Medium Line

WCS-2 and WCS-3 sensors provide essential data for advanced irrigation. WCS-3 measures moisture (Volumetric Water Content), while WCS-2 adds temperature and electrical conductivity (EC). Connected to Aqua-X Pro/Plus systems via RJ12, they transmit real-time data to screens and mobile apps, enabling multi-zone monitoring. This data supports automated irrigation (“Feed on Demand”)—activating when moisture drops—and crop steering via customizable schedules. Mobile notifications alert users to readings outside set limits, ensuring responsive environment management.

Digital Flow Meters

Sensor Board

The AMP-2 Sensor Board links pH, EC, and temperature probes to the Aqua-X Irrigation System, displaying real-time data on controller’s screen. Users set min/max limits for 24/7 alerts if readings deviate. Probes connect to the sensor board via terminals, and the board connects to the controller. This enables monitoring and remote access to historical data via a smartphone app.

Nutrient Line

The AMP-3 Sensor Board is a digital bridge connecting pH, EC, and temperature probes to Aqua-X Pro (up to 50 sensors) and Aqua-X Plus (up to 5 sensors) irrigation controllers. It provides real-time pH, EC, and water temperature data on its LCD screen and the main controller, enabling comprehensive water parameter monitoring for various tanks or dosing systems through flexible RJ12 connections.

Nutrient Line

The WD-1 water detector acts as both a leak sensor and a watering confirmation device. As a leak sensor, it detects water presence. For watering confirmation, an output (e.g., pump) assigned to the detector activates; if water isn’t sensed within a delay, an irrigation failure alert is issued.

WD-1 also enable an auto-fill function for reservoirs in Aqua-X Pro & Plus systems, using two sensors to maintain liquid levels by activating a filling mechanism when the lower sensor is no longer reached. The Aqua-X Pro supports up to 50 sensors/detectors, and the Aqua-X Plus up to 20.

Water & Nutrient Sensors

Nutrient Line

DFM-1/2/3 digital flow meters integrate with Aqua-X Pro/Plus systems to measure and display liquid flow rate, speed, and total volume. They can also enable “Feed By Volume” for precise, volume-based nutrient solution dispensing, managing irrigation by liquid volume instead of duration. Multiple meters can be supported for comprehensive multi-zone monitoring.

Auto-refill Water Detection

Water Detector

The Aqua-X Irrigation System integrates environmental sensors. The WD-1 water detector functions as a leak detection or water-verification device, sending an irrigation failure alert if water isn’t detected after activation. Up to 25 can connect. The WCS-2 water content sensor measures the grow media’s water content, temperature, and EC via a five-prong assembly, displaying readings and sending alerts. The WCS-3 water content sensor monitors moisture (volumetric water content) with a three-prong design, showing current readings and providing historical data/alerts via a smartphone app. The system supports up to 8 of each water content sensor type.

      FAQ

      What is the Aqua-X system?

The Aqua-X system is a professional-grade, fully customizable modular irrigation control system. It allows growers to automate irrigation schedules, control multiple pumps and solenoids, and constantly monitor critical water and grow medium parameters like pH, EC, temperature, and moisture levels.

Does the system monitor my reservoir’s pH and EC?

Yes. By connecting the AMP-2 or AMP-3 Sensor Board, you can link heavy-duty pH and EC/Temp probes directly to your controller. You can use drop-in probes for open stock water tanks (like the PPH-1 and PCT-1) or inline probes for existing PVC piping (like the PPH-2/3 and PCT-2/3). Minimum and maximum limits can be set to provide 24/7 notifications if your nutrient solution falls out of balance.

How does the system protect against leaks or watering failures?

The Aqua-X uses WD-1 Water Detectors to provide 24/7 peace of mind. A detector can be used as a traditional leak sensor on the floor to monitor for spills. Alternatively, it can be used as a "water-verification monitor" placed where runoff accumulates. If a scheduled watering event triggers but the WD-1 does not detect water within an adjustable delay time, the system sends an immediate "irrigation failure" alert to your phone to prevent crop loss.

How does the system help with Crop Steering?

The system pairs with TrolMaster's Water Content Sensors (WCS-9) to constantly measure moisture levels, temperature, and EC within your grow medium (the root zone). You can fully automate irrigation events based on the actual water content of your medium (Feed-by-Moisture), setting specific moisture percentage triggers and "Dry Back" parameters to precisely steer your crop's vegetative and generative growth phases.

Can the Aqua-X automatically refill my nutrient reservoirs?

Yes, utilizing the Auto-Fill feature (available on the Pro and Plus models). By installing two WD-1 or WD-2 water detectors in your tank to act as float switches—one at the bottom and one at the top—the controller will automatically activate a pump or solenoid when the liquid level drops below the bottom sensor, and stop filling once it reaches the top sensor.

What does the “Feed by Volume” function do?

Available on the Aqua-X Pro and Plus, the Feed by Volume feature offers an option to feed your plants by precise liquid volume rather than by duration. By installing a DFM series digital inline flow meter (DFM-1, DFM-2, or DFM-3), the controller will accurately measure and dispense the exact amount of nutrient solution you select for each irrigation cycle.

Can I monitor and control my grow room remotely?

Yes! You can achieve complete control of your grow room from anywhere using the free TrolMaster smartphone app. Connecting your controller to the internet provides real-time data, remote setting adjustments, and instant push notifications if any of your parameters fall out of your custom limits. Users of the Aqua-X Pro also have access to a free web-based software program for desktop and laptop monitoring.

What is the “Master Pump Link” feature?

The Master Pump Link eliminates the need to coordinate two separate timers for your main pump and your zone solenoids. When you link a main water pump to multiple 24V irrigation solenoids, the main pump will automatically turn on whenever any of those specific solenoids are activated by the schedule.

How difficult is it to install the Aqua-X system?

Installation is as simple as plug-and-play. All sensors and device stations connect to the main controller using standard RJ12 cables and Y-splitters. Modules can be easily "daisy-chained" together for flexible expansion, or you can use the SPH-1 8-port splitter hub to eliminate the need for Y-splitters altogether.

What is the difference between the Aqua-X, Aqua-X Plus, and Aqua-X Pro?

      • Aqua-X (NFS-1): The standard controller features a backlit LCD display and can control up to 30 individual outputs (pumps and valves) across 5 control modules.
      • Aqua-X Plus (NFS-3): Upgrades your experience with a 7" LCD touch-screen and expanded capacity, allowing control of up to 120 pumps and valves.
      • Aqua-X Pro (NFS-2): The most advanced model features a 10.1" touchscreen, free web-based software access, and massive capacity. It can control over 300 pumps while monitoring up to 50 sensors.
